Roses is a town in comarca of Alt Emporda (province of Girona). The town was founded by Greeks in the 8th Century BC under name Rhodes in honour of their homeland. The Romans later developed the fishing industry, which brought the town great wealth.
Nowadays its harbour is the home Costa Brava's largest fishing fleet, and adjacent is a leisure craft marina which was officially opened in 2004.
Roses attracts many tourists with wide range of entertainments. It has around 4 kilometers sweeping bay with fine and gently sloping sand.
