municipality of AlcudiaAlcudia is a town at island of Mallorka (Balearic islands), Spain. It is a 35-minute drive from Palma Airport. The town boasts the most beautiful seven km's of white beach on the island, the oldest historical town in Mallorca originally established by the Phoenicians, and a laid back atmosphere making Alcudia a suitable destination for families. Together with the nearby sandy beaches the main tourist attraction is the Hidropark. Another very popular site is the Hotetur Bellevue complex, the largest holiday resort in Europe. Alcudia is also a paradise for sun and water-sport lovers - there are offered sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, etc. The old town of Alcudia lies within an ancient Moorish fort wall. There are remains of a Roman town just outside the town walls, called Pollentia. There is also a small Roman amphitheatre, the smallest in all of Spain. The walled town is very beautiful. It has plenty of squares with places to eat and drink. The venues and nightclubs in Alcudia are stylish, but yet pleasantly mellow in comparison to areas around the island. There are bars and restaurants at regular intervals situated right on the beach. As you move south the resort gets quieter but the sea is less calm. From Port d' Alcudia tourists can take boat trips around the island, as well as daily ferries to Menorca and Barcelona. The harbour is really beautiful to walk along in the early evening.
