municipality of Puerto de la Cruz
Puerto de la Cruz is located in province Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands. It is situated in the north part of the island of Tenerife. It is an old colonial town which has long been a favourite destination for tourists from northern Europe. Unlike many other towns in Tenerife Puerto de la Cruz has retained a great deal of its colonial architecture and charm. There are still a lot of shady streets, beautiful tree-lined avenues and quiet plazas.
The town of Puerto de la Cruz has a lot of sights to show to its visitors. There are several churches close to the town center; one of them is the Ermita de San Juan which dates back to 1599. The old customs house (Casa de la Aduana) was built in 1620 and now houses a selection of artisan shops. Casa Miranda is a great example of Canarian architecture. Nowadays the house is one of Puerto de la Cruz’s finest restaurants.
Puerto de la Cruz hosts an annual Carnaval in the month of February. The celebrations are a smaller version of what happens in Santa Cruz but still there is a lot to take the tourists’ breath away: i.e. the Funeral of the Sardines and a plenty of salsa bands playing on the Plaza del Charco.
Puerto de la Cruz will see off every visitor feeling refreshed after their vacation in the town. Tourists there will have the chance to get acquainted to the culture of the Canary Islands.
Puerto de la Cruz welcomes its visitors with pleasant temperatures no matter what time of year it is. This tiny paradise, long known as a place of rest and relaxation, also offers excellent tourist services.
